Excitement abounds as news of the new Carol Duboc project SMILE spreads throughout the Smooth Jazz community! This time out, Ms. Duboc, who emerged as a vocal force in the early 2000’s, enlists the writing, performing, producing assistance of none other than Jeff Lorber, and the results are impressive indeed. First single: the sultry and intriguing “Elephant,” as she explores both the challenges and joys of a long-term relationship. This romantic relationship theme predominates throughout SMILE, enhanced artfully by Ms. Duboc’s vocal interpretations and a world-class group of musicians that includes names like Brian Bromberg, Jimmy Haslip, Michael Thompson, and Vinnie Colaiuta. Carol Duboc, who Sandy Shore is referring to when she states, “Smooth Jazz has a new poster girl,” has treated us to a whole new collection of originals with SMILE that continues to secure her place as one of the top female jazz singers in the biz!
